In 2013, Pakistan exported $28.2B and imported $44.8B, resulting in a negative trade balance of $16.6B. In 2013, the GDP of Pakistan was $232B and its GDP per capita was $1.28k.
The top exports of Pakistan are House Linens ($2.65B), Non-Retail Pure Cotton Yarn ($2.39B), Rice ($2.12B), Heavy Pure Woven Cotton ($1.16B) and Non-Knit Men's Suits ($1.07B), using the 1992 revision of the HS (Harmonized System) classification. An active body related to research is Pakistan Agricultural Research Council the apex national organization working in close collaboration with other federal provincial institutions in the country to provide science based solutions to agriculture of Pakistan through its statutory functions.
TRADE WITH ECO COUNTRIES
Pakistan is an ECO member which has business relation with all ECO countries, the highest to be Afghanistan and the lowest to be Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan making 8.20 and 0.01 percent of Pakistan’s export respectively.
As to imports from ECO countries, it is worth to be mentioned that Pakistan imports from all ECO countries except Azerbaijan. Pakistan takes 41 percent of Afghanistan’s export which its highest import rate.
